Mr. Negru is an orthopaedic surgeon specializing in the management and surgical treatment of shoulder, elbow and hand conditions.
Arthroscopic Expert
Minimally-invasive, state-of-the-art, arthroscopic techniques are used to treat challenging conditions such as rotator cuff disease, shoulder instability, wrist ligament repair or joint stiffness. Mr Negru routinely performs complex arthroscopic procedures to treat shoulder, elbow and wrist pathologies.
Shoulder & Elbow Specialist
Mr Negru has a special interest in complex instabilities of the shoulder and elbow, primary and revision arthroscopic rotator cuff surgery and complex elbow trauma. He is routinely seeing patients for failed previous surgery and operates on high level athletes. Every year he performs over 300 operations mainly shoulder, elbow and hand arthroscopies, shoulder and elbow replacements and complex Upper Limb Trauma.
Marius Negru grew up in Romania, graduated from Carol Davila University of Medicine and completed his training in Traumatology and Orthopedics at Floreasca Emergency Hospital in Bucharest.
Early in his career, Mr. Negru started to specialize in Upper Limb Surgery and trained in the South West of England. He was awarded an honorary fellowship at the world-famous Reading Shoulder Unit in the UK, working with Professor Stephen Copeland and Professor Ofer Levy.
In 2014, he was appointed Senior Shoulder and Elbow Fellow at University College of London Hospital (UCLH), Institute of Sports, Exercise and Health and St John & St Elizabeth Hospital Shoulder Unit in London. At UCLH he gained further expertise in Upper Limb Surgery working with Mr. Carlos Cobiella, Mr. Marcus Lee and Mr. Elliot Sorene.
Mr. Negru was appointed Consultant in Upper Limb Surgery at the Princess Alexandra NHS Trust in Harlow and after one year he continued to work as Consultant in Upper Limb Surgery at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS in London.
After spending 5 years in London as a Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon Specialist in Upper Limb Surgery he moved to Gibraltar where he is currently organizing and developing the busy Upper Limb Surgery Service at St. Bernard Hospital.
He is a reviewer for The Bone and Joint Journal (formerly JBJS) and The Shoulder and Elbow Journal (United Kingdom).
Mr Negru is seeing patients privately in Gibraltar at the Specialist Medical Clinic and also provides private surgical services at HC Hospital in Marbella, Spain.
